Medicare

Psychologists are able to offer a Medicare rebate for counselling services on either a GP Mental Health Care Plan (GPMHP) or an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC)/Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan. Medicare allows up to ten sessions per calendar year for GPMHP and 5 sessions for EPC or CDM plans.

The Federal Government has just announced in the latest budget that they will provide an additional 10 Medicare sessions on the GPMHP (Better Health Access Scheme) if the initial 10 sessions have been used for all clients, regardless of there being any current COVID-19 restrictions in place or not.

Fees and Rebates

Counselling appointments at Links Psychology are $140, this is for initial and ongoing, individual sessions.  We also provide couples counselling at $150 per session.  If you have a GP Mental Health Care Plan then we can process the Medicare rebate of $87.45 for you at the time of your consult, leaving a gap of $52.55. The rebate for an EPC plan is $54.60, with a gap of $85.40.

Please let us know if you are currently experiencing financial hardship or are a concession, health care or pension card holder.

Telehealth

We are pleased to offer phone or video consultations, these are being conducted via phone, FaceTime, Zoom, Skype or Coviu.  Appointments can be paid via direct deposit or credit card over the phone prior to your appointment.  We also continue to offer face to face consultations at all of our locations.

Claiming your Medicare Rebate

We are able to process your Medicare rebate at the time of the appointment onto an EFTPOS card (Cheque or Savings account) for all face to face appointments.  If you do not have access to these or you are having a phone or video consultation, you will need to claim your Medicare rebate online or via the Medicare phone app. Please click this link for information on how to claim your Medicare rebate on myGov or the mobile Medicare app.
